A poem from Dad
Walk Beside Me Still
The morning sun still hits the fairway gold,
And I can see your shadow walking bold,
A gentle man with kindness in his eyes,
The kind of soul that never said goodbye.
You danced through life with rhythm in your feet
Made every stranger feel like an old friend to meet,|
An Eagle Scout who always knew the way,
Leaving trails of light that never fade away.
And you walk beside me still,
Through every green and every hill,
In every strike and every roll,
I hear the laughter of your soul.
Though heaven called you far too soon,
I see your smile beneath the moon,
And every day my heart can say,
My son still walks with me today.
We were partners on the golf course side by side,
A steady hand, a kind and gentle word,
The best of friends a father ever knew,
And life was simply brighter because of you.
And you walk beside me still,
Through every green and every hill,
In every strike and every roll,
I hear the laughter of your soul.
Though heaven called you far too soon,
I see your smile beneath the moon,
And every day my heart can say,
My son still walks with me today.
Sometimes the tears come like a summer rain,
Sometimes the memories bring a little pain,
But love like yours is stronger than goodbye,
It lives forever, never leaves, never dies.
You'd hold that guitar like an old best friend,
Let your heart speak through the notes you'd bend,
Every string would sing the story of your soul,
Turning simple melodies into something whole.
The music filled the room where your laughter stayed,
And every song became a memory you made,
Now when a lonely six-string starts to softly play,
I swear I hear you smiling from not so far away.
And you walk beside me still,
Through every green and every hill,
In every strike and every roll,
And every guitar's sweet rock and roll.
Eagle Scout, dancer, faithful friend,
Musician whose songs will never end,
Until the day we meet once more,
You'll be waiting on that distant shore.
My son still walks with me today... ❤️
